How should the non-Indigenous speak? A discussion of decolonizing academia, positioning, and freedom of speech

How can we engage in Indigenous research that allows multiple perspectives and knowledge production is open to epistemic diversity? Answering calls for decolonization of the academy need researchers do their homework, I use my position as an ‘inbetweener’ a Sámi, context, experiences with peer reviewers gatekeepers, theoretical methodological discussions about research, reflect upon this question. The review processes are seldomly discussed, although have power decide whether gets published or not. Questions remain on how should be carried out who speak, especially Sámi-Norwegian context where identity being Sámi not by no means easy questions, due colonialism Norwegianization processes. There confusion regarding what positioning means. argue methodology raises dilemma because it one hand offers criticism previous western, ‘dirty’ urging non-Indigenous involve ‘do homework’, while simultaneously emphasizing done peoples, worldviews starting point.
